Micronet Awarded SIIRD Grant to Develop a New Hybrid Fix/Portable color Mobile Data Terminal
Micronet has received the grant for development of WinCE 6.0 based mobile computing platform, uniquely designed to support In cab & Out of Cab Mobile Resource Management (MRM) applications
Azor, Israel, December 10, 2008 - Micronet, a leading global OEM provider of Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), today announced that it has recently been awarded a grant from the Singapore-Israel Industrial R&D Foundation (“SIIRD”) to develop a new hybrid Mobile Data Terminal, in tandem with its Singaporean technology partner InfoWave that will develop fully integrated messaging and dispatch software solutions on this platform.
"With this grant, we plan to enhance our product offering by adding a color touch screen Mobile Data Terminal, catering to major MRM market sectors, like Logistics and Haulage, Passenger transportation, Technical field services and Public safety” said Rafi Katz, Micronet's CEO. “Drawing on the vast experience of both InfoWave and Micronet, we plan to introduce a seamlessly integrated mobile computing platform and applications suite, highlighted by its superior functional versatility and competitive pricing”, added Rafi Katz.
WinCE 6.0 based, the new product will be feature-rich and scalable, offering multiple integrated on-board options, including GPS, wireless communication, standard and dedicated communication ports for external 3rd party devices, and vehicle bus I/O connectivity support. Its color touch screen, will be framed in a modern, rugged Fixed/Portable enclosure, making it the most versatile and economical mobile computing platform in its class.

SIIRD, a co-operation program between the Singapore Economic Development Board and the Office of the Chief Scientist Israel, provides funding for joint industrial research and development (“R&D”) projects between companies based in Singapore and Israel.
